I would like to give this place more stars but it has some significant shortcomings. The bed was low, to the point where I was unable to get up from it unaided (I have poor joints). The staff were helpful and raised it up by day two, even so, why would you put a guest in that situation. Between reception and our side of the hotel there's acres of depressing and semi empty public rooms. One side of these overlook the marina, beautiful, but the windows have tatty yellow curtains drawn thus obscuring the view, FFSW? Breakfast is good, and you can circumvent the appalling coffee by asking them to make you a fresh one. The location is fabulous, right above the sea and we had glorious views. Chairs for the veranda would have been great. Our bedroom was drab, narrow and with a very high roof. Paint spattered red tile floor and a bathroom door that rested open against the toilet bowl. Such a small, and shabby shower cubicle. All in all a frustrating place with so much untapped potential. They managed to miss out on spectacular by hitting slightly grim

A lovely hotel in an ideal position on the Isle of Ortigia. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a deluxe room with a sea view which was very tastefully decorated. We had a very pleasant dinner in the roof garden restaurant and the views from the roof terrace bar are stunning. There is a lovely breakfast room with sea views and a large choice of breakfast items. The indoor pool and spar facilities are very enjoyable, but could do with better lighting and some plants. Our one problem was the car-parking and we strongly recommend you do not use this facility. It is called ‘Valet Parking’ and we thought a hotel employee would park our car in their own car-park. We began to worry when we paid our hotel bill and were told to pay the driver, who was returning our car, separately. When our car was returned, there was 9 km on the clock, the garage was 4.5 km away. Our car was damaged. When I pointed this out to the driver, he produced a false damage report with a forged client signature. We produced our hire-car report, showing no damage and told him we were not paying and required his details for an insurance claim. The driver telephoned the garage owner who promptly turned up and denied responsibility. We suggested we contact the police as we considered it a case of fraud. The garage owner gave us his company details and accepted there would be no charge. Use this service at your peril.

The rooftop terrace has fantastic 360 degree views over Ortigia's rooftops and across the waterfront. It's open to non-resident and is the perfect spot for sundowners. Cocktails are pricier than average at 10€ but it's worth paying a little extra to enjoy the sublime sunset. A bottle of Prosecco will set you back between 25 and 30€ so makes for a less expensive option for groups.

This hotel was great. They did a good job mixing in new amenities that you would want in a hotel but still kept the character and beauty of the original building. Breakfast was good and the staff was very nice. The pictures are of the view from the window. We stayed on the 1st floor so if you would like more of a view od the sea I would recommend asking for a room above the 2nd floor. That being said the banion trees outside the room were huge and not bad to look at.

The hotel was standard and nice. I particularly enjoyed the experience at the roof top. The staffs are professional and excellent customer service especially one of the waiters, Santino who ensured we were happy with our dinners during the 2weeks of our stay. He should be rewarded for excellent customer service. Lovely rooms ( though could be better dor a 5star) and the facilities were fine.
