Debit cards are STRICTLY not accepted. My fully paid reservation was wasted to Goldcar without any car provided simply because I had a card marked as debit officially even though deposit can be blocked/unblocked on it as well. This is anti-customer service optimizing only boton line of the company. Big GAIL. Read your conditions super cauciasuly.

NIGHTMARE! Do not use this firm. Unreliable shuttle bus from airport to the hire site, aggressive tactics left my heavily pregnant wife in tears and several holidaymakers deeply upset. I've hired cars all over the world and can honestly say I have never been treated this badly (and I've never actually felt the need to Google review but this was so bad). The shuttle bus from the airport didnt arrive for 20 mins to take us to the company office. The aggressive tactics of the firm insist you buy their insurance (another 190Euros) or they virtually tell you you will be charged thousands upon return of the vehicle. The tactics were so aggressive in nature that when i said I wasn't interested he became extremely hostile. Told me I would have to assess the damage to my car before hiring (they refused to) and when I explained I couldnt see whether there were existing scratches due to the dirt (the car was filthy) he shrugged his shoulders and smiled. Even when I suggested I would clean it to ensure there was no damage he said no and no other cars were available (one magically did become available when the manager became involved). And when I explained the situation to the clerk was causing huge distress to my wife (tearful at seven months pregnant with twins) he leant back, shrugged and crossed his arms. They also freeze around 3000Euro on your credit card, which isn't released until long after the rental has hired. If you dont have access to the funds, as many dont, then they wont let you rent unless you buy their policy. We later bumped into a French couple forced to take out the insurance as they didnt have the funds. If you want the most stressful, aggressive, miserable start to your holiday then the good people at GoldCar are the folks for you. If not, steer clear at all costs. No doubt I'll receive a platitude response to this telling me about their third party insurance policy and how it works. I couldn't care less. The customer treatment is the worst I've experienced.

Very Bad Car rental service????? No Service at all, I had a problem with my creditcard so the guy said I had to leave his office, it was midnight and we still had 80 km to go to our hotel, I paid the car a couple off months before my holiday. So no Car and I didn't get my money back,
This is in my opinion a crime, Thieves, I call them.
The other day we went to Williams rent in Bari and they helped us perfect , even after a little accident with the car. Rent a Car in Bari !!! Go to Williams rent!

I was afraid when I read all these reviewes here. With a friend as students without much money we expected the worst but it turned out to be a really good decision. If you read all information before,there won't be hidden costs or surprises. Just check everything before you book it. The shuttle bus came super fast and the people were really nice and were really patient when they explained us everything the third time. Nothing aggressive or forced. Car was fine,so I would rent there again.

It is a real scam. Never ever ever ever ever book with Goldcar. Online you can purchase full protection for €11 a day. You can decide to book it in advance, book it at location or not take it at all. We decided to not book it in advance. Once you arrive at the rental office they trick you into purchasing full coverage by saying that the terms and conditions that are stated on the website don't apply to them since we booked via the broker "Rentalcars" and that if you lose your key or if you get a small scratch they will charge you the fixed amount of €3500. Not only do they change the terms & conditions, the price of booking full coverage also goes up from €11 a day to €26 a day mysteriously. To top the story, they are really unfriendly and one of the employees even yelled at us and said that we were stupid enough to book with them, so that we just had to deal with it.

I would never do book with them again, but if you do, make sure to book full coverage online before you go there. I hope they won't change the terms and conditions then.
